We had a great time at the 2016 Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show. Not only did we have a large booth outfitted with beautiful kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, we also built the test kitchen that Pittsburgh Magazine used to host local chefs. We love to see out kitchens in use, because not only do they look beautiful, they are also functional! About a dozen local chefs used the space throughout the Home Show.
We took these photos as Keith Fuller and Richard DeShantz of Pork and Beans prepped for their demonstration. Their restaurant (opening soon!) is a pork-centric smokehouse and beer garden in the Cultural District. It will offer a menu that will include house-smoked and house-cured meats, plus a variety of salads, sandwiches, entrees and schnitzels.
We love the look of a contrasting island, but kept the counter material the same on both work surfaces for consistency. If this island were in a home, not on stage, that front area would be the perfect place for a few stools. For more ideas, check out our gallery of kitchens.
