A tricky place to keep clean is the kitchen. It’s constantly in use, but it has to be clean and sanitary. There are a few easy things you can do to keep your kitchen clean.
Keep your counter clear of clutter. We know the kitchen is a gathering place for you and your family. School papers, bills, mail, and other items land on the kitchen counter or table. Instead of using a flat surface as the catch-all spot, designate a drawer or hanging magazine file as the main spot for these items. Also, try to keep lesser-used appliances, bakeware, and other kitchen tools off the counter. Now you’ll be able to clean easier.
Spot clean your kitchen daily. Now that your counters are free of unnecessary clutter, you can clean them daily. Use a cleaner that has been approved to be used on your counter and wipe down your kitchen counter tops. Don’t forget to do a once-over on the stove, oven, or microwave to prevent small messes from turning into big problems. Sweep up the crumbs and wipe down the kitchen sink after you put the dishes in the dishwasher.
Don’t ignore messes until it’s too late. Did tonight’s dinner bubble over? Use a damp sponge to clean up the mess before it gets baked on with tomorrow’s dinner. Not only is it faster and easier to clean fresh spills, it’ll prevent you from using harsh cleaners to scrub problem messes that could have been easily mitigated when they happened.
The kitchen is the heart of your home; make sure it’s clean so your family stays healthy and can enjoy a clean kitchen gathering space.
