As you plan out a kitchen renovation, designing a kitchen island can be a challenging project. It’s important to make sure the proportion of the island (or peninsula) fits with the rest of the room, and possibly adjacent rooms. We’ve had customers request an island with a breakfast bar big enough to accommodate the entire family. Others want a second prep sink or beverage station. During our Personalized Design experience at Cabinet World, we can help you choose the features and finishes that will make you fall in love with your kitchen for years to come!

As with any design we work on, we like to find out about your lifestyle and what design elements will work best for your family.

Do you like to entertain?

Consider adding a wine refrigerator in your island. This can keep beverages handy, and chilled to the perfect temperature! You might also want to plan for lots of seating around your island, it’s a great place for guests to congregate.

Do you love to cook?

From beginner to advanced, any cook will appreciate a second prep sink in the island. Make sure to plan for a disposal in the sink so your helpers can peel vegetables and clean fruit without clogging up your main sink.

Have a dish collection that needs room to grow?

An island can provide a ton of extra storage in your kitchen! Make the most of base cabinets with creative storage solutions like roll-out shelves and dish storage racks to store your collection.
