We’ve heard that saying, “You woke up on the wrong side of the bed,” but there are a few things you can easily do every day to help you feel energized and organized in the morning and start your day on the right foot.
Plan out meals the night before. In the evening, round up leftovers, make a sandwich, or budget for a lunch out. Don’t forget snacks! Make your lunches in advance and stick them in the fridge. In the morning, you and your kids can just grab and go. If you really want weeknights to be a breeze, prepare lunch meals during the weekend and stash in the fridge until you need them.
Wash the dishes. You may have heard of the Clean Sink Challenge. It’s just a fancy way to say “do the dishes.” When you start the day with a clean sink, you just feel like you’re already on top. After making dinner and lunches, wash pots and pans or put them in the dishwasher. If you have a stainless steel sink, don’t forget to wipe it out with a towel to prevent water spots.
Get your work bag ready. Gather up everything you’ll need for the next day and get it ready to go. Make sure you have any forms, papers, and other items that magically pop up in the morning for your kids already signed and in backpacks. Have your bag together, too. If you keep reminding yourself not to forget to mail a card, put it in your purse now so you’re ready for the morning. Same thing with insurance cards for doctor’s appointments, forms that need to be filled out, taxes, you name it!
Having a routine makes it easier for your brain to prepare for the next day. With these tips, your days will be organized and smooth from the very beginning!
